Once upon a time, in a faraway land, a normal mom wanted to do something extra ordinary to help her children know the real meaning of Easter. She wanted her children to know of Jesus and His gospel and His ways. She wanted to help them come to know and love their Savior. So she decided to do something special each day of the week, leading up to Easter Sunday that coordinated with what Jesus did the last week of His life. On Sunday, Palm Sunday, we talk about the Triumphal Entry and why the Jews were coming to Jerusalem for the celebration of the Feast of the Passover. Dad dresses up as Moses and we go through all of the 10 plagues that the Children of Israel endured with the Egyptians. I have pint sized jars that have plastic flies, and locust, and cows, and hail, etc. in them....it is fun to see the kids ooh and ahhh over all the creepy things! We talk about how Moses told the children of Israel to put lamb's blood over their doors so the 10th plague, the destroying angel would PASSOVER them. Those that listened to the prophet, lives were spared. After this 10th and final plague, the children of Israel were set free from bondage. We play games and have a yummy dessert of course....our own celebration!! I made this little book to help my kids remember each day of Christ's last week of His life, leading up to Easter. Stay tuned for Monday's tradition.
